This Privacy Policy describes how Human Rephraser Pro (the "Extension") handles information when you install or use the browser extension. We value your privacy and aim to be transparent about the permissions the Extension needs and how data (if any) is handled.

  • The content of the pages you visit or your browsing history
  • Text you select or rephrase (unless you explicitly send it to a third-party API)
  • Cookies or tracking identifiers

We do not use analytics platforms, trackers, or advertising networks.

3. Permissions and Local Access ⚙️

To provide its core functionality, the Extension uses the following Chrome permissions:

Permission Purpose
**activeTab** Temporarily grants access to the active tab when you click the extension or use the context menu. This is used only to read the text you explicitly select to rephrase.
**contextMenus** Creates a right-click menu entry ("Rephrase with Human Rephraser Pro").
**scripting** Injects small, temporary scripts to read the selected text and to insert or copy the rewritten text. These scripts are executed only when you ask the extension to act.
**storage** Stores user preferences locally (e.g., preferred tone, UI settings). Storage is either Chrome local storage or Chrome Sync if you enable browser-level sync.

Important: Access and actions happen only after you initiate them (click/selection). The Extension does not run persistent background page scripts that continuously read page content.

4. Optional External Processing (Third-Party APIs) 🤝

By default, all operations are performed locally in your browser. The Extension itself does not send selected text or any other content to our servers.

If you choose to configure an external AI provider (by entering your own API key), the text you rephrase will be sent to that third-party service for processing.

  • The request, response, and any data sent will be subject to the third party's privacy policy and terms of service.
  • The Extension does not store your API key on our servers. If stored, it will be stored only in your browser's storage.

Always review the privacy terms of any external AI provider you choose to use.

5. Data Retention & Security 🛡️

Data Retention

  • The Extension stores only non-sensitive user preferences locally in Chrome storage. These settings remain on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.
  • If you use a third-party API, any retention or logging of text by that provider is governed by that provider's policy, not by this Extension.

Security Measures

  • We follow a privacy-first design: minimal permissions and no remote data collection.
  • User settings stored in Chrome storage are protected by Chrome's security model.
  • The Extension's source code is provided in the downloaded package so you or auditors can inspect exactly what it does.
