What's the difference between a CV and a resume?

In the US and Canada, a resume is a 1-2 page summary tailored to a specific job. A CV (curriculum vitae) is typically longer and used for academic, medical or research roles, or is simply what a resume is called in the UK, Ireland and much of Europe. This tool works for either — pick a template and adjust the length of what you include.

Are these templates ATS-friendly?

Ledger, Ivory, Slate and Folio use a single-column or simple grid layout with standard headings, which parses reliably in most Applicant Tracking Systems. The sidebar-based templates (Meridian, Atlas, Field, Circuit, Grid, Studio, Fluent) look great to a human reader but, like any multi-column design, may not parse in older or stricter ATS software — use Ledger if you know your application goes through an ATS.

Is my resume data saved or sent anywhere?

No. Everything — your text, your photo, which template you're using — is saved only in your own browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded to any server, so it's private to your device and stays there until you clear your browser data.

Can I download my resume as a PDF?

Yes. Click "Print / Save as PDF" and choose "Save as PDF" as the destination in your browser's print dialog instead of a physical printer.

Can I add a photo to my resume?

Seven of the eleven templates (Meridian, Atlas, Field, Circuit, Grid, Studio, Fluent) support a profile photo — click the photo circle/square on those templates to upload one. The other four (Ledger, Ivory, Slate, Folio) are deliberately photo-free, which is standard for US/UK resumes.
